Laminated basses often get damaged edges particularly on the sides and lower bout

This bass has inlaid purfling so the damage stops at the purfling line.

A well fitted veneer can hide the damaged edges quite well.

I need to clean the chips out along a grain line and find somewhere to stop. I use a chisel to make a nice flat surface.

I'll use any wood that is similar in colour, unless I'm restoring a Testore.

Line up the grain of the patching piece.

I make sure the glue gets into all the delaminating veneers in the neighbourhood.

All I need to do now is stain and revarnish.
