Repairs

A double bass is a large, heavy instrument and inherently cumbersome to move around.

It is prone to being bumped into doors and steps, scraped and scratched on the floor, and having its edges chipped through contact with clothing, furniture and even the bass bag. It is common for seams to become unglued, or carved tops to develop cracks. More seriously, a bass can be damaged through impact, falling over, or even through sudden changes in humidity.

Sometimes, a bass is damaged only slightly, but over time the damage gets worse until an expensive repair is the only option. It is important to keep an eye on your bass for little problems and catch them in time.

Free Health Check

I'll give your bass a health-check at no charge. I will examine the instrument inside and out and let you know if there are any apparent problems or danger signs.

Some repairs can be easily achieved from the outside of the instrument. More serious repairs may involve removing the top. Sometimes, when the top is removed, other problems become apparent.
