"Setup" is the process of optimising the playability and the sound of a bass.

In my view, the only credible reason for playing a double bass is the feel of the bass under your fingers and against your body, and the sound it makes!

If a bass is not pleasant to play, you won't enjoy playing it, and you wont get the best sound. If the bass doesn't sound the way you like it, you won't enjoy playing either.

This is especially important for young players.

Every bass will benefit from some setup work. Even small adjustments can make a big difference.
