Here's a photo of the lovely old bass I want to copy:

It is owned by maestro bass soloist Stefano Sciascia in Italy, and he was kind enough to take a lot of photographs of the bass from all angles and to take all the measurements I needed. So my copy will be as close as I can make without actually seeing or touching the instrument first hand.

(Photo from Stefano's website)

The bass is very old, dates to the 1700's and is a beautiful shape. The top is attributed to Ruggieri.

Mould

First step, is making the mould, three sheets of 1/2" plywood. I'm using my version of a mould design i saw on Stefan Krattenmacher's website.

Cut out and spaced to final dimension of the corpus.

What? You interested in what I'm doing?
